Description
Manga 1 was photographed in London in 2003 for a GQ editorial inspired by Japanese Manga imagery. The shoot explored a stylised, futuristic aesthetic, drawing on the exaggerated forms and graphic qualities often found in that genre.
The body armour worn by the model was specially made for the shoot, allowing the figure to take on a more sculptural presence within the frame. The aim was to combine the human form with elements that suggested a hybrid between fashion, cartoon and graphic design.
