Description

Nick Egan’s, I Fought the Law is a visually arresting exploration of rebellion and artistry, encapsulated in a mixed media collage. Egan layers original police mug shots of personalities, each having left an indelible mark on music and popular culture. A direct and compelling embodiment of rebellion, it showcases Egan’s skill at transforming cultural iconography into a captivating visual narrative, making an appealing choice for the discerning art collector drawn to works with historical and cultural significance.

Nick says, “This was originally a hit by the Bobby Fuller Four, but more recently by The Clash and evoked their rebel image. The portraits are all from actual police mug shots of Tupac Shakur, Sid Vicious, James Brown, Frank Sinatra, Mick Jagger, Prince, Kurt Cobain, Johnny Cash, Jim Morrison, Axl Rose, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Marilyn Manson, and Elvis Presley. The images in the background are vintage photos of the police from the UK and the US. Lastly, typed in red are various criminal charges.”
