Nick Egan’s Duck Rock is a transformative mixed media collage skillfully crafted using original digital prints, airbrushing, oil, acrylic and metallic paint. It serves as a representation of the evolution of Malcolm McLaren’s influential Duck Rock album cover. Egan says, “I utilized the work of artists Dondi White and Keith Haring and the customized ‘Duck Rocker’ (Boom Box) into the art. I saw it as a poster that had been put up on the walls of the Subway Station with the Duck Rocker, the Duck Rock lettering and the ‘Duck Rocker’ as the base of the original poster, but as time went on, people would come by and graffiti over it. Some would try to peel it off the wall, and others would stick another flyer over it until it became almost unrecognizable from the original, exactly how it would be it did appear on a Subway wall.
